Emily Anderson
A trained journalist and oral historian, I have spent many years interviewing people for private and community oral history projects, and for documentaries. I am a member of the National Oral History Association of New Zealand.
I can help capture your story in a relaxed and enjoyable way. I will make sure your life’s highlights and challenges are treated with sensitivity and respect.
Recent projects I have enjoyed working on:
New Zealand Dental Association - life and career interviews with retired members of the profession.
Living with Death and Dying During the COVID-19 Lockdown - a six interview oral history project archived at the Alexander Turnbull Library.
Private family histories - many family and life history interviews.
Hurunui Seismic Stories – oral history interviews about the Kaikoura Quake, which were turned into a travelling exhibition, and a book.
St John of God Hospital – interviews with past staff, Catholic Brothers, and families of residents, which are being used to create a written history.
St George's Cancer Care – interviews with cancer survivors used to reassure newly diagnosed patients.
Hanmer Springs Community History – personal accounts of growing up in a small town in the middle of last century.
